Okay, so some of it may offend. Me, I'm a fan.

My favourite Web site is Justin Hall's Links from the Underground. It's intelligent, important and interesting, with the best use of HTML I've seen. I'm getting really sick of shallow visual masterworks like The Spot (attractive on the surface, but it gets old really fast), whereas I keep returning to Justin's site to experience his latest thoughts and links.

People are learning that HTML is a writer's dream: interactive text. Justin is probably its best exponent -- when he wants to go off on a tangent, he just adds another link. Apparently most people visit for Justin's sex links, but there's a whole lot more to the site, like the part from which it gets its name.

Justin inspired me to learn HTML and fill my first home page with chatty links. At the same time, I was reading Howard Rheingold's awesome history of The Virtual Community (and sending him cups of tea). Little did I know that in the meantime, the two had become friends -- Howard is Justin's guru and Justin is Howard's.

AFAIK both are yet to suffer exploding ego syndrome or be swallowed up by another corporate giant!
